Less noise.
Better decisions.

I help founders, boards and senior leaders think clearly when the answer isn’t obvious — as an executive coach, non-executive director and investor.

Board-level challenge that stays useful

The useful bit

Most leaders don’t lack advice. They lack somewhere to think properly.

The job can be lonely. Everyone brings an answer, an agenda or a PowerPoint. I bring questions, pattern recognition and the willingness to say when something doesn’t hold up.

Good work should show up in the next decision, the next board meeting and what happens on Tuesday morning. Otherwise, we’ve merely had an interesting chat.

How I help

Different seats. The same job: improve the decision.

01

Executive coaching

For founders, chief executives and senior leaders carrying decisions that don’t fit neatly into a framework.

  • Judgement, priorities and role transitions
  • Difficult conversations and board dynamics
  • The gap between intent and what people actually hear

Confidential. Practical. No motivational wallpaper.

03

Investor & adviser

I invest selectively in technology and consumer businesses, then stay close enough to be useful and far enough away to let the founders lead.

  • Proposition, evidence and operating model
  • Founder dynamics and commercial focus
  • The unglamorous work of getting things done properly

Capital helps. Clear thinking usually helps first.

Experience

Operator first.
Adviser second.

I started in the Royal Signals, then built a career across managed services, cloud, data and higher education technology. I co-founded Solutionpath as CTO, later became CEO, and led the business through its acquisition by Kortext in 2022.

The relationship differs: founder, NED, investor, company secretary or adviser. A single label would be tidy. It would also be wrong.

How I work

Start with the actual decision.

01

Separate fact, inference and organisational folklore.

02

Ask the question that survives a serious board meeting.

03

Keep ownership with the person who has to lead.

04

Judge the work by what changes in practice.
